English is important as a global communication language, but speaking skills are often difficult for students to master because they require practice and confidence. At SMP Negeri 6 Purwokerto, the Student-Centered Learning method has been implemented for seventh-grade students' speaking skills, but there are still obstacles such as anxiety and limited vocabulary. This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of the Student-Centered Learning method for speaking skills in the 7th grade at SMP N 6 Purwokerto, Banyumas. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with a survey method, utilizing a questionnaire as the data collection technique. The questionnaire consists of 20 items and was filled out by 214 respondents. The data analysis technique used is percentage and category analysis to classify the level of student perception. The research results show that students' perceptions of the method are in the high category with an average percentage of 76%. In terms of classification, 61% of students are in the high category, 33% in the very high category, and 6% in the fairly high category—overall depicting a positive perception. The percentage reflects the students' positive assessment of various aspects of SCL, such as: this method makes students more active, provides opportunities to participate according to their learning styles, encourages collaboration among students to support the learning process, and offers space to practice speaking skills. Additionally, the impact of SCL on improving speaking skills is also rated positively by the students. Overall, all these aspects fall into the good classification, which means that students' perceptions of the application of SCL in speaking lessons are generally accurate, although there may still be slight misunderstandings or limitations in comprehension.
