THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING THE SNIPS (START, NOTE, IDENTIFY, PLUG, AND SEE) STRATEGY ON READING COMPREHENSION SKILLS IN 8th GRADE IN SMP ISLAM ANDALUSIA 1 KEBASEN BANYUMAS



Abstract: This study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness
of the SNIPS (Start, Note, Identify, Plug, and See) strategy on the reading
comprehension skills of class VIII students of SMP Islam Andalusia 1 Kebasen
Banyumas. With the quasi-experimentation method, the research used cluster
sampling with two groups: an experimental group taught with the SNIPS strategy
and a control group taught with conventional method. Information was collected
through pre-tests and post-tests as standard multiple-choice questions over narrative
texts. IBM SPSS Statistics 26 was employed to examine the results. The
independent T-test showed that the experimental group obtained significantly
higher scores on the post-test compared to the control group (sig 0.009
