This research investigates the effectiveness of the Show and Tell method in
improving the speaking skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Al-Islam Cipari,

Cilacap. The research problem formulated in this study was: Is the Show and Tell
method effective in improving the speaking skills of 7th grade students at SMP
Al-Islam Cipari, Cilacap ?. The objective of the research was to determine whether
the Show and Tell method significantly enhances students' speaking skills. The
research employed a quasi-experimental design with a quantitative approach. The
population consisted of all seventh-grade students at SMP Al-Islam Cipari,
Cilacap, with the sample drawn from two classes: VII A as the experimental group
(33 students) and VII B as the control group (32 students). Data were collected
through pre-tests and Post-Tests, and analyzed using the T-test and N-Gain
formula. The results showed that the mean score of the experimental group
increased from 43.76 in the pre-test to 69.21 in the Post-Test. The T-test result
was 12.544, which was higher than the t-table value of 2.00 at a significance level
of 5%. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (H1 ) was accepted, and the null
hypothesis (Ho ) was rejected. The N-Gain score of 45.51% further indicated
moderate improvement. Based on the data, it can be concluded that the Show and
Tell method is effective and significant in improving students' speaking skills.
