The social understanding of the mosque in Indonesian Islamic society
focuses on its role as a place that must adapt to the dynamics of the times, Lack of
management and backwardness are the main problems and become homework for
a takmir to find new strategies to prosper and restore the full function of the
mosque and be able to keep up with changing times. Almsgiving is one of the
important worship services in Islam that has a significant role in supporting
mosque operations and other social religious activities. However, the interest of
the congregation in giving alms often fluctuates, so an effective strategy is needed
from the takmir to encourage congregational participation.
This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection
techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The research
subjects consisted of mosque takmir, congregation, community leaders and
related parties involved in managing alms. The findings from this research
indicate that the strategies used by takmir include an educational approach,
transparency in the management of alms funds, as well as the provision of alms-
based social programs that involve the congregation directly, thus stimulating the
congregation to give alms.
With these strategies, the interest of worshipers in giving alms has
increased significantly, both in terms of the number of donors and the amount of
alms collected. This study concludes that the role of takmir is very important in
motivating and managing the participation of the congregation.
