THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SCRAMBLE GAME ON STUDENTS' VOCABULARY MASTERY AT 7TH GRADE OF MTsN 8 KEBUMEN
This research investigates whether scramble games have a significant
impact on vocabulary mastery among 7th graders at MTsN 8 Kebumen. It uses a
quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The population of 288
students across nine classes The sample was selected using random sampling, class
VII B as the control group and VII E as the experimental group. Data was gathered
through pre- and post-tests using 30 multiple-choice questions, and results were
analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics V25. The research data shows a clear
improvement in students' vocabulary mastery after the treatment. The average pre-
test score was 58.17, while the post-test average increased to 88.09. Hypothesis
testing using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-tests confirmed this
result. The independent t-test showed that the t-count (4.681) was greater than the
t-table value (1.670), and the significance value (0.000) was below 0.05, indicating
a significant effect. Based on the table value of t-count in table, it was possible to
conclude that HO was rejected and Ha was accepted, indicate there is a significant
difference in students' vocabulary mastery between pre-test and post-test in the
experiment class. The result of N-Gain score in experimental class is 72 %. Which
can be concluded that the scramble game was effective enough for students'
vocabulary mastery.
